Linen has been used by humans for thousands of years.
Made from the fibres of the flax plant, linen is very strong, absorbent & dries quickly. Linen is cool to the touch, breathable & can absorb a fair amount of moisture without feeling unpleasantly damp on the skin, making it the perfect fabric for hot & humid days.
Linen is relatively easy to take care of - the fibres do not stretch & are resistant to damage from abrasion meaning the fabric resists dirt & stains, has no lint or pilling tendency & can be machine washed, dry cleaned & steamed. This fabric also gets softer the more you wash it.
Linen is known to wrinkle easily, meaning some garments require frequent ironing, however many modern linen garments are designed to be air-dried on a good clothes hanger & worn without needing to be ironed.
